Cycle across the Upper Salt Road, a spectacular ex-military white road that connects Piedmont and French Alps to the Ligurian Sea.

It winds between 1800 and 2100 meters above sea level along the main Alpine watershed, near the French-Italian border, crossing mountain passes, hairpin bends and daring passages.

The route, entirely unpaved almost until Pigna, crosses enchanting places such as the suggestive area of Carsene, with its almost lunar landscapes and rich in geological phenomena, and the uncontaminated environments of the Mediterranean Alps. 

It crosses the Marguareis Park and the Park of the Ligurian Alps, characterized by a rich biodiversity, the wonderful Navette Wood and it touches some military fortifications of the late nineteenth century.

The arrival is at the sea, in the town of Bordighera.

This tour is suitable for you who are an intermediate level rider, with the fitness to ride several days in a row.

The route is high in the mountains, and although the technical difficulty is not high, the elevation gain is significant.

For this tour we recommend the use of MTBs, but electric bikes are also welcome.

FACILITIES & ACCOMODATION

We will set up our base camp at the Rifugio La Terza, on the first evening, near Pigna, on the second at the Agricampeggio Refuge and at the Vallecrosia Campsite in Bordighera, on the last evening.

Each participant will have to bring his own equipment, which will be transported by the organization.

We suggest the use of tent, mattress and sleeping bag.

The breakfasts will be served at the structures in which we will be supported; Refuge La Terza, the Refuge Agricampeggio and Camping Vallecrosia.
